A glass tower at the end of the EUR lake, built as open office floors
Palazzo Eni stands at the east end of the EUR lake, on axis with it, in Piazzale Enrico Mattei. Putting every function into one tall volume left the site free for traffic, parking and green space. A typical floor was laid out as open space divided only by rows of cabinets no higher than 1.10 m; only managers sat in small, fully glazed boxes. A bridge leads visitors straight to the first floor, while employees enter at ground level. The building held a 260-seat conference hall, a library and a bar and meeting rooms on the 19th floor, with the chairman's offices on the 20th. Outside it is a continuous aluminium-and-glass curtain wall between concrete end walls clad in travertine.
