Four office buildings around a green, glass-walled plaza
Opened in April 2025, De Run 1000 is four related office buildings — each with slightly different façades — linked by a 4,000 m² plaza with a fully glazed front and greenery all around. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a central void pull daylight deep inside; mostly white rooms get bright colour accents, warm materials and cabinets that double as green partitions. On the roofs: gardens with beehives and insect hotels. EGM says the design swings between focus and relaxation, like the body's nervous system.

27 vacation days plus 13 ADV days (shorter working time). Up to 80 extra hours can be bought each year.
8% of annual salary, paid every June.

Office history: from a shed next to Philips to a second 350,000 m² campus
- 1984 Strijp, Eindhoven — a Philips building and a leaky shed
ASM Lithography was set up on April 1, 1984 by Philips and ASM International. 47 engineers from Philips' wafer-stepper group joined. The start-up began in Philips' Strijp TQ building in Eindhoven, soon outgrew it and added “some uncomfortable sheds” next to a Philips office.

With about 100 employees, ASML moved into a newly built office and factory in Veldhoven, a few kilometres from the Philips research labs. Veldhoven was chosen for the permanent head office.

After going independent and listing in 1995, ASML expanded R&D and production at De Run. A staged factory complex began in 1996, with offices built on top of the cleanrooms and a parking garage in two 250-metre sections; it won the Dutch National Steel Prize in 2012.

A 30,000 m² automated logistics hub with a 35-metre warehouse was completed, topped by 34,000 m² of offices for about 3,000 people around two atriums, with a roof garden and 1,780 solar panels.

What ASML does
ASML builds the lithography machines chipmakers use to print circuit patterns onto silicon wafers — EUV and DUV systems — plus metrology and inspection tools, software, and service for the machines already in customers' fabs.
Sales come from new and used systems (EUV, DUV, metrology & inspection) and from Installed Base Management — service and upgrades for machines in the field.
