THE NEW HEADQUARTERS · PHILIPS CENTER · 2025
A 1970s building in Amsterdam's Zuidas, stripped to its frame and rebuilt
Philips chose to rent and renovate rather than build new. V8 Architects returned a 1970s building — designed as an office, later used as a school — to office use: five floors around a central stair, each with its own character and colours, a mix of quiet rooms and open meeting areas, and a biodiverse rooftop garden. The carpets are woven from discarded fishing nets, the walls hold reused insulation, and outside there are fruit trees, nesting places and a beehive.
- 19,810 m² (≈ 213,233 sq ft)
- Floors of about 3,000 m² each
- Design: V8 Architects
- Landscape: Felixx
- Parking for 400 bicycles
- Opened by Queen Máxima, Oct 2025
Philips Center, Amsterdam
V8 Architects rebuilt a 1970s office building at Prinses Irenestraat 59 as Philips' headquarters, opened in October 2025; Keijsers Interiors fitted it out.
