THE HEADQUARTERS · 220 OCCIDENTAL AVENUE SOUTH, PIONEER SQUARE

Timber in every form, above a park in Pioneer Square

Mithun designed both the eight-story building and Weyerhaeuser's interiors. Timber shows up in many forms as a tribute to the raw material, the pioneer history and working forests. Open workspaces, multi-purpose cafés and rooms for group work are spread out to mix departments; daylight, natural ventilation and open stairs are meant to keep people moving. Rooftop meeting rooms, gathering spaces and gardens look out over the city and Elliott Bay, and the building's lumber all came from Weyerhaeuser's own mill in Longview, Washington.
