A San Jose campus that turned its lawns into offices
After its separation from eBay, PayPal moved its workplace outdoors: SWA Group added an amphitheater for 250, an indoor/outdoor cafeteria and a coffee shop that becomes a beer garden after hours; M Moser later set freestanding meeting pavilions with shade and power on the lawns; RELM restored a living pond and built decks and pergolas under old-growth trees. Indoors, HGA redesigned the 100,000 sq ft Building 15 around a “nature meets technology” theme with a colorful ribbon of light running through the floor.

After the separation PayPal hired SWA Group for a three-part campus improvement: amphitheater, indoor/outdoor cafeteria and coffee-shop deck. M Moser and RELM later reworked the lawns, ponds and paths into outdoor workspaces, and HGA redesigned Building 15 indoors.
