A glass cube built around a factory cooling tower

Pirelli's head office grew out of the last witness of its old Bicocca factory: the cooling tower of the power plant built in 1950. Gregotti Associati boxed it inside a 10-storey, 50 × 50 m cube with offices on three sides. The fourth side is a vast glass wall that puts the tower on display and faces the 15th-century Bicocca degli Arcimboldi villa, Pirelli's reception venue.

  • Design: Gregotti Associati
  • 10 storeys, 50 × 50 m
  • 1,800 m² glass façade (≈ 19,375 sq ft), 168 tonnes
  • Auditorium inside the 1950 cooling tower
