THE HEADQUARTERS · SHIODOME CITY CENTER · 2003

A curved green tower at the gateway to Shiodome

Shiodome City Center sits at the Ginza end of the Shiodome redevelopment, the spot its builder calls “the gateway to Shiodome”. The tower is set diagonally on its site to make the most of the views, and its curved green outer walls were chosen because they disturb TV signals less and insulate well. Inside the ANA Group offices, shared meeting rooms carry the names of cities ANA flies to — staff say things like “next time in Paris” or “is Seattle free?” — and office lights switch off automatically after 8 p.m.
