THE HEADQUARTERS · BAHNHOFSTRASSE 45 · REOPENED 2018

A 1917 bank hall, reopened to the city

After a three-year refurbishment, UBS reopened its headquarters on December 3, 2018. The listed façade barely changed, but the inside was almost completely redesigned by EM2N: a wider entrance, the restored 1917 counter hall in the Münzhof, a new planted courtyard called the Pelikanhof, and the UBS Forum, an event space of almost 200 m² between them. The whole ground floor is open to clients and visitors, with a café, shops and a 24-hour ATM. Upstairs, offices and meeting rooms were rebuilt for collaborative, flexible work, and works from the UBS Art Collection run through the building under the theme “Heritage meets Contemporary”.

  • Refurbished 2015–2018
  • Design: EM2N
  • LEED Platinum
  • About 30% less energy
  • UBS Forum ≈ 200 m² (≈ 2,150 sq ft)
  • 650 staff on site (2018)

The listed façade on Bahnhofstrasse

The Münzhof, designed by Pfleghard & Haefeli and opened in 1917, has six Doric columns on its long front; its listed façade barely changed in the 2015–2018 refurbishment.
