A low 1970 headquarters by Edward Durell Stone sits inside a sculpture garden with works by Henry Moore and Alexander Calder — and the public may walk it on weekends.
- 1965 year the sculpture collection was started
- 16 weeks minimum pregnancy leave in the U.S.
- 306,000 employees worldwide, end of 2025
PepsiCo's world headquarters is a low building by Edward Durell Stone on a former estate in Westchester County, with landscape by his son, Edward Durell Stone Jr. Around it, the Donald M. Kendall Sculpture Gardens — begun in 1965 and later shaped into an arboretum by the garden designer Russell Page — hold works by Henry Moore, Alexander Calder, Arnaldo Pomodoro and David Wynne. The landscape architects EDSA describe courtyards, meadows and woodland as “outdoor living rooms”, with parking hidden beyond the forest so that employees walk through the grounds on the way to their desks.

Headquarters, Vevey · Photo: RDR Architectes 02Nestlé · Vevey, Switzerland
A listed 1960 modernist landmark on the shore of Lake Geneva, a few minutes' walk from the spot where Henri Nestlé started making infant cereal in 1867.
- 1960 Jean Tschumi's headquarters building completed
- 18 weeks fully paid leave for primary caregivers, worldwide
- 87% employee engagement score, 2025 survey
Jean Tschumi's Y-shaped headquarters, completed in 1960, is one of the best-known office buildings in French-speaking Switzerland and is listed in the Historical Monument inventory. A second building by Burckhardt followed in the 1970s, with air-conditioning fed by water from the lake. From 1996 to 2000 Richter Dahl Rocha renovated Tschumi's building and added a new element linking the two, and in 2009 a WellNes Centre opened with two staff restaurants, a coffee lounge, a gym and a medical centre.

905 West Fulton Market · © HPA / photo Craig Dugan 03Mondelēz International · Chicago, Illinois
The maker of Oreo and Cadbury left the suburbs for Chicago's Fulton Market, where everyone — the CEO included — sits at free-address bench desks.
- 80,000 sq ft Fulton Market headquarters
- 50+ meeting rooms in the HQ
- 10 weeks paid bonding leave for U.S. parents
SCB designed the 80,000 sq ft headquarters to feel “beautifully imperfect”: brick walls and columns, steel connecting stairs, wood ceilings, murals and art installations. The open office is made entirely of free-address bench workstations, including those of the executive team and the CEO. On the fifth floor a “Connect Zone” holds a company store, a communal kitchen and a stage for all-staff meetings, opening onto one of two large terraces. Employees enter through a public café on the ground floor.

The in-house bar · © Kubik 05Heineken · Amsterdam, Netherlands
Four buildings in four styles, a restored villa for meetings, and an in-house bar lined with bottles from Heineken's global family of beers.
- 8,800 m² four buildings renovated, 2006–07
- 6 weeks vacation a year (Netherlands)
- 3 + 2 days in the office + at home
Heineken International's head office sits in four neighbouring buildings, each in a different style. A later fit-out by Kubik added The World of Heineken at the entrance, an in-house bar and themed zones across four floors — The Lounge, The Garden, The Beach and Back to Africa.

The Central Reception Building · Photo: © Gensler 06The Coca-Cola Company · Atlanta, Georgia
A 35-acre campus around the 1979 North Avenue tower, rebuilt inside by Gensler with a “Main Street” of restaurants, a pharmacy and a credit union — and Robert Woodruff’s office moved into the lobby.
- 35 acres headquarters campus in Atlanta
- 1.96M sq ft renovated, LEED Silver (≈ 182,090 m²)
- Since 1920 on North Avenue, next to Georgia Tech
From 2012 Coca-Cola rebuilt the inside of its Atlanta Office Complex — the North Avenue Tower, the USA Building, the Technical Engineering Center, the Central Reception Building, Coca-Cola Plaza, the Employee Center and the Learning Center. The first phase was a ground-floor “Main Street” corridor linking the buildings, with restaurants, conference centers, shops, a credit union and a pharmacy. The last phase, the Central Reception Building, has a white rotunda with an original 1949 yellow delivery truck, a terrazzo floor made with pieces of recycled Coke bottles, a full-service restaurant named Plum Street after the company’s original headquarters building, and Robert Woodruff’s office, moved here from a remote floor. Outside is a renovated green space employees call “The Backyard”.

The Central Office from the street · C.F. Møller Architects / Photo: Adam Mørk 07Carlsberg · Copenhagen, Denmark
Carlsberg's headquarters stands on the same Valby hill where J.C. Jacobsen started brewing in 1847 — one wing bridges a street, and a staircase with seat pads looks out over Carl Jacobsen's garden.
- 15,500 m² of offices (≈ 166,840 sq ft)
- March 2020 moved into the new Central Office
- 1847 Carlsberg founded on the same hill
The three wings meet in an atrium that opens onto Carl Jacobsen's Garden and links every floor into one working community. A wide staircase with seating pads is used for short breaks and informal meetings with a view of the garden. Faceted, angled wings give workplaces varied views for both fixed and “touch down” desks. Inside, floors are bamboo or ground concrete, and surfaces are left raw and untreated.

The “stadium” floor · © Okamura / photo: Nacása & Partners 08Kirin Holdings · Tokyo, Japan
Kirin's Tokyo head office has a café that serves the group's own drinks — with beer about once a week after hours — next to a ping-pong playground and a nap spot on artificial grass.
- 20,000 m² head office on 4 connected floors, designed for 3,350 people
- 50% of head-office staff can be in at once — desks are free-address
- 123 days off a year (new-graduate terms, Kirin Holdings)
In 2022 Kirin squeezed its head office from six floors into four and rebuilt it around the idea of a stadium where people share their passion. Each floor got one shared job — guest lounge and Kirin Studio on 18F, meeting “Lab” on 19F, a big café lounge on 20F and a library on 21F — all set around a staircase linking the floors. In January 2026 a second renewal added a café with Kirin drinks, a playground, a nap and stretch corner, a book-sharing shelf and themed spaces called BAR, CAMP and YATAI.

Lounge under a colorful wall sculpture · © McGough (architect HGA) 09General Mills · Golden Valley, Minnesota
A 1958 campus with its own “Main Street” — coffee bar, salon, gym, credit union and company store — renovated across 370,000 sq ft in 2025.
- 500,000 GSF World Headquarters campus (HGA)
- 18–20 weeks fully paid leave for birth mothers (U.S.)
- 7 employee networks, running for 30 years
HGA, General Mills' architect for more than 25 years, took its cues from the original 1958 main building and reinterpreted it with lighter materials in every expansion. Walking paths, landscape and parking are planned as one tranquil campus. Its “Main Street” amenities building, the Champions Center, has a work lounge, a Caribou Coffee café, an Aveda salon, a fitness center, a credit union and the company store; a 370,000 sq ft workplace renovation was completed in 2025.

The headquarters and the Asahi Group Hall · © Asahi Group Holdings 10Asahi Group Holdings · Tokyo, Japan
A headquarters built to look like a mug of beer — amber glass with white “foam” on top — beside a 44-meter golden flame by Philippe Starck.
- ≈ 100 m tall, shaped like an overflowing beer mug
- 44 m · 360 t golden “Flamme d’Or” on the Asahi Group Hall
- 10 days extra paid leave for new fathers (26 Japanese group companies)
Asahi built its headquarters for its 100th anniversary on part of the site of its old Azumabashi Brewery. The tower's amber mirrored glass is meant to look like freshly poured beer up to the 20th floor; the 21st and 22nd floors are clad in white like a frothy head, and they house a panoramic restaurant. Next door, the Asahi Group Hall by Philippe Starck carries the golden Flamme d’Or, and inside takes its cues from a luxury cruise ship: columns shaped like beer foam and white marble staircases.

A Soho headquarters built around Diageo's brands, with a bar, a restaurant and a shop open to the public.
- 900 London staff brought under one roof
- 26 weeks fully paid maternity leave, worldwide minimum
- 88% of employees proud to work at Diageo (2026)
Diageo pre-let the whole building in 2019 and the developer reworked the existing structure, widening the floor plates instead of rebuilding. Interior designer MCM set out to make a place where “workspace, brand, hospitality and experiences” meet: there is an immersive customer collaboration centre, bar and entertaining spaces, a commercial kitchen and restaurant, and a Diageo shop open to the public. Diageo said its employees would help design their own workspace.
