    CBRE · Dallas, Texas

The world’s biggest property-services firm built its own head office around one idea: the office as an employee sanctuary.

    • 54,930 sq ft global headquarters (Gensler)
    • 155,000+ employees worldwide
    • 100+ countries

CBRE set out to make its Dallas headquarters a new benchmark for efficiency, community and connection — and a proving ground for hybrid work. Gensler organised the floor into “neighborhoods” for different work styles, from focused individual work to team collaboration, with flexible layouts, technology for in-office and remote meetings, and wellness-focused amenities. The theme was “sanctuary”, with neutral, timeless tones and a hospitality feel that blurs inside and outside. Gensler reports that in-office attendance increased after the move.

    Oracle · Austin, Texas

A campus on Lady Bird Lake with balconies over the water and more than 250 art installations made with Texas artists.

    • 560,000 sq ft first Austin building, opened 2018
    • 14 weeks paid parental leave (U.S.)
    • ≈ 8 years average employee tenure

The first building has five levels of open office floors, cantilevered balconies and terraces looking over Lady Bird Lake and downtown Austin, and a floating stair and bridge in the lobby. Inside, the art and graphics are all about Texas: a slot-car track of the Circuit of the Americas, a “HOLA” sign made of 225 Topo Chico bottles, food trucks painted by 15 local artists and a flag made of 4,560 guitar picks. The second building, opened in December 2020, added more than 250 more installations, including 2,700 Matchbox cars and 366 cassette tapes.

American Airlines · Fort Worth, Texas

A 160-foot “contrail” built by the airline's own mechanics snakes over the dining hall of a 1.56 million sq ft headquarters.

    • 1,556,654 sq ft Skyview headquarters (≈ 144,617 m²)
    • 12,000+ people working on the new campus
    • 600 rooms training and hospitality complex for crews

Pelli Clarke & Partners designed the campus around American's idea of “One Campus, One Team”, bringing frontline and management teams to one site. Skyview 8 — four buildings joined by a Town Hall with shared spaces, dining and wellness amenities — is its heart. Inside, aviation is the décor: a 160-foot sculpture shaped like an airplane contrail, made of carbon fiber by maintenance technicians in Tulsa, hangs over the dining area, and a real Boeing 757 engine cowling is a place to sit for a photo.

    • ≈ 100,000 visitors a month to the Discovery District
    • 33,000+ members of AT&T Employee Groups

Inside the 37-story headquarters tower, the lobby has eight LED columns, a three-sided video wall called the “Media Box” and a glowing ceiling “veil”.

Whole Foods Market · Austin, Texas

Whole Foods Market shaped its newest Austin office building after the creek that runs beside it, and put a retail testing lab inside.

    • 140,000 sq ft new office building (Gensler)
    • 20 weeks fully paid leave for birthing parents
    • 20% in-store discount for store team members

Whole Foods Market added a 140,000-square-foot office building to its amenity-rich urban campus in Austin. Gensler took its cue from the company’s mission to “Nourish People and the Planet” and from Shoal Creek, which runs along the east side: the building’s fluid lines and warm tones echo the creek’s contours. More than 90% of the plan is open, with outdoor access, daylight and creek views, and activated hubs for social life. The campus also has a work café, outdoor terraces, a retail testing lab and a fitness center, and the materials include recycled content and low-embodied-carbon carpet.

Visitors enter a glass lobby with a two-story video wall. Inside are 72 soundproof privacy pods, nearly 600 desks people book when they come in, a Makerspace with 3D printers, laser cutters, woodworking and welding tools, wellness rooms for meditation and prayer, and a health center, gym and pharmacy. A 10,000-ton cube that seems to float above a plaza, on a wooded 385-acre campus where about 80% of the land stays green or under water.

    • 385 acres campus built for 10,000+ employees and visitors
    • 8 weeks extra paid time off for a new child, birth or adoption
    • ≈ 30 years average length of service for career employees

The campus north of Houston brings about 10,000 people together. Its front door is the Energy Center, whose 10,000-ton “cube” appears to hover over a plaza and reflecting pool, with glass elevators and open stairs leading up into it. Every office building has a multistory atrium crossed by bridges, and daylight is used so the offices need about 40% less energy than a typical office.

Keurig Dr Pepper · Frisco, Texas

A drinks company that hung giant glass bubbles over its staircase — and keeps a beverage lab in the same building.

    • ≈ 30,600 employees
    • $16.6B revenue, 2025
    • $64,534 median employee pay, 2025

Corgan's design for KDP's 350,000 sq ft headquarters and R&D facility in Frisco centres on the idea of “Balanced Recharge”: a place for more than 1,100 employees to feel energised, mingle and collaborate. End zone work lounges at the ends of each floor offer furniture for solo, small-group and team work, in warm, textured materials. Branding is less about advertising products than about the lifestyle of enjoying them, built into lighting, shapes and patterns — from a lenticular wall in the main reception to a two-story, bubble-inspired glass sculpture over the monumental stair. The interiors are certified LEED CI Gold.

Group 1 Automotive · Houston, Texas

Group 1’s Houston headquarters is built like a car: a “car body” lobby, “engine” amenity spaces and a café inspired by tire treads.

    • 20,452 employees in the U.S. and U.K.
    • 254 dealerships (145 U.S. · 109 U.K.)
    • $18.8M 401(k) matching contributions, 2025

Group 1, a Fortune 500 company with more than 200 dealerships in the U.S. and U.K., wanted a headquarters that could grow with it. Gensler drew on materials and finishes found in vehicles: leather and metal in the conference rooms, a “car body” lobby, “engine” amenity areas and a café inspired by tire treads. A hybrid layout mixes open workstations with glass-front offices; boomerang-shaped desks add privacy, and multipurpose rooms with operable walls give flexible meeting space.

    Phillips 66 · Houston, Texas

A 14-acre Houston campus with an 80 by 210 ft skylight, a soccer field on top of the garage and an on-site doctor and dentist.

    • 1.1M sq ft campus, opened 2016
    • 4 → 1 Houston offices brought together
    • 8% 401(k) match of eligible pay

After the 2012 spin-off, Phillips 66's 2,200 Houston employees worked in four separate offices. The 14-acre campus that opened in 2016 brought them together: 13- and 15-story towers joined by a 3,000 sq ft walking bridge. The podium gathers the amenities — a conference and training center, a full-service kitchen and servery, a fitness center with yoga and spinning studios, on-site medical and dental services, two credit unions, a massage room and dry cleaning — around a gathering space under an 80 by 210 ft glass skylight. The arrival walk evokes driving through Texas hill country, with water features and Texas limestone that runs from outside to inside. On top of the parking garage is a sports deck with a soccer field, running track, a net-enclosed court and putting greens.

    Silicon Labs · Austin, Texas

Silicon Labs went from a 100% closed-office headquarters to open floors linked by a floating steel staircase, with balconies looking over the city and the lake.

    • 1,930 employees, 72% in engineering
    • $110,759 median employee pay, 2025
    • 441,000 sq ft in two owned buildings

Silicon Labs reinvented its downtown Austin headquarters across two buildings at 200 and 400 West Cesar Chavez Street. Coming from a 100% closed-office layout, Gensler helped the company study different open-to-closed ratios and how they affected growth and workflow. Each level now has its own destination, connected by a central floating steel staircase. Amenity and collaboration spaces mix crisp finishes with warm tones and bold furniture, and new balconies on the second and third levels open onto city and lake views.

    APA Corporation · Houston, Texas

Apache’s Houston headquarters plays day against night: bright, colourful work floors and calm, dark spaces for thinking.

    • 14 floors 350,000 sq ft headquarters (Gensler)
    • $237,527 median employee pay, 2025
    • ~1,791 employees, end of 2025

Apache wanted a workplace that broke down silos, reflected its brand and supported the return to the office. Gensler’s design spans 14 floors and 350,000 square feet as an exploration of contrast between day and night: work floors are vibrant and colourful, while executive and conference spaces are calm places to strategise. Flexible work zones, private offices and collaborative clusters sit side by side; nature-inspired palettes, tactile materials and plants make it sensory-rich. Uniform glass-front offices promote transparency, and open ceilings and less carpet lower the carbon footprint.
